Today is World Animals Protection Day.
World Animal Day, celebrated worldwide on October 4 annually, was established in 1931 at the International Congress of Supporters of the Nature Movement in Florence. October 4 is the day of remembrance of the Catholic Saint Francis of Assisi, who preached to forest animals and therefore is considered the patron saint of animals.
Animals welfare societies of many countries of the world annually organize various events and events dedicated to the Day. In Azerbaijan, this date has been celebrated since 2000 at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Society for the Protection of Animals.
